English fifth-tier side Barnet FC laying off all non-playing staff over coronavirus

Steve Nicol and Shaka Hislop feel the correct decision has been made to suspend all major leagues in Europe.

Barnet FC have placed all non-playing staff on notice for redundancy as they consider the impact the coronavirus is going to have on football's long-term future.

Since the club were relegated to the National League at the end of the 2017-18 season, they have seen a drop in attendance and a general increase in costs. And with parachute funding finishing in April, they have made drastic cost-cutting measures.

Barnet's league fixtures have been suspended until April 3 at the earliest due to...

Ball boys sent off for time-wasting, leaving referee to do their job

Yeovil Town's ball boys were all sent off in the closing minutes of Saturday's 3-1 non-league win over Bromley, leaving the referee to retrieve the ball himself, as the bemused club took to social media to discuss the bizarre end to the game.

"The referee has, no joke, just sent off one of our ball boys..." Yeovil said on Twitter, a post that was retweeted by more than 2,000 users, before adding: "Update: he's dismissed all of them."

English games reporting hate crimes spikes 47%

Juan Mata criticised racist comments aimed at Paul Pogba as "cowardly" in an interview with ESPN's Rob Dawson.
Jadon Sancho has spoken out about the detrimental impact of racism in football, following the abuse given to Romelu Lukaku at Inter Milan.

The number of football matches in England and Wales where hate crime incidents were reported increased by 47% in the 2018-19 season, a British government study published on Thursday said.

Although football-related arrests dropped by 10% to 1,381 last season, the number of hate crimes reported increased from incidents in 131 matches the previous season to 193 matches in 2018-19.

Gary and Phil Neville celebrate as Salford City are promoted to the Football League.

Manchester United "Class of 92" members Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and David Beckham are the co-owners of a Football League club after Salford City beat AFC Fylde 3-0 to win the National League playoff final at Wembley.

Goals from Emmanuel Dieseruvwe, Carl Piergianni and Ibou Touray mean Salford are elevated to the fourth tier of English football for the first time in their history after a final between two sides who have never played in the Football League.

The Chesterfield Paradox: Club on simultaneous terrible AND brilliant runs

Martin Allen looks like he is struggling to comprehend the mind-bending logic behind Chesterfield's recent run of results
Martin Allen looks like he is struggling to comprehend the mind-bending logic behind Chesterfield's recent run of results.

After being relegated from League Two last season, English club Chesterfield have not fared well on their first stint in non-league football since 1921.

The Spireites are currently mired in the relegation zone, fourth-bottom of the National League and without a win in 18 matches.

However, a reason to lift the doom and gloom at the Derbyshire club is the revelation that, as dismal as things might sound, their form is actually historically good.

Well, sort of.

Having crunched their numbers, statistician...
