Ingolstadt claim derby bragging rights against Augsburg
Newly promoted Ingolstadt got the better of local rivals Augsburg 1-0 on Saturday to claim their second win of the Bundesliga season.
Markus Suttner planted a direct free-kick against the crossbar after half an hour as the visitors showed more will and determination at the Augsburg Arena in the Bavarian derby.
And Ingolstadt took a deserved lead in the second half with an unstoppable 25-yard curling effort into the top right-hand corner from Mathew Leckie, just beyond the reach of Augsburg goalkeeper Marwin Hitz.
Tobias Werner wasted a glorious opportunity to equalise soon after, firing wide from just a couple of yards out with the goal at his mercy.
That summed up Augsburg's poor start to the season as they were left still waiting for their first win after three games.
