German Cup: Bayern visit Wolfsburg, Schalke host Monchengladbach

Bayern Munich will face a tough opponent in their DFB-Pokal second round match.

Bayern Munich will travel to Wolfsburg in the second round of the DFB-Pokal in one of four all-Bundesliga ties in the last 32.

Cup holders Wolfsburg will welcome Bayern to the VW-Arena in October with one of the favourites for the title set to fall at only the second hurdle.

Another big name will also fall when Schalke host Borussia Monchengladbach while last season's beaten finalists Borussia Dortmund have to navigate a difficult local derby against Paderborn, who were relegated to the second division...

Leipzig awarded Osnabruck win after DFB-Pokal match abandoned

A German Football Association (DFB) tribunal has awarded Leipzig a 2-0 win over Osnabruck after their DFB-Pokal match was abandoned after the referee was hit by a lighter thrown from the crowd.

Referee Martin Petersen sent the teams off the field in the 71st minute of the first-round match on Monday after being hit by the lighter, thrown from an area of the stands occupied by Osnabruck fans.

Osnabruck were 1-0 up at the time of the incident, and Leipzig had said they were willing to replay the match.

RB Leipzig, Osnabrueck match suspended after referee hit by lighter

The DFB-Pokal first-round tie between third-division VfL Osnabruck and second-tier RB Leipzig was abandoned with 19 minutes remaining on Monday after the referee was hit by a lighter thrown from the crowd.

Osnabruck were leading 1-0 - thanks to a goal from Halil Savran after just 23 seconds - when Leipzig forward Davie Selke got involved in a heated exchange with a player on the Osnabruck bench.

Di Santo launches spider attack on Schalke teammate

He's only been at the club five minutes and already Franco Di Santo is already pulling strings when it comes to the dressing room banter at Schalke.

Shortly after trouncing Duisburg 5-0 in the DFB Pokal, the Argentinian striker scooped up a spider from the pitch and decided to dump it on Leroy Sane's back, causing his  teammate to almost jump out of his skin.

Hertha Berlin team bus shot at in Bielefeld, no one injured

Hertha Berlin general manager Michael Preetz said the motivation for someone shooting at the club's team bus was unknown.

BERLIN -- Hertha Berlin's team bus was shot at ahead of a German Cup match in Bielefeld, the Bundesliga club said Sunday.

There were no players on the bus at the time and no one was injured in the incident.

Hertha general manager Michael Preetz told German website Sport1 that the bus was overtaken by a motorcyclist who threatened the driver with his fist and then pulled out a pistol at a roundabout. The shot did not penetrate the windscreen.
