European Club Association wants FIFA compensation for Qatar World Cup

The 2022 World Cup will start in November, if FIFA accepts the recommendation from its own task force.

European Club Association (ECA) chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge thinks that Europe's clubs deserve to be compensated if the 2022 Qatar World Cup is staged in November and December.

A FIFA task force ruled out the possibility of playing the tournament in May and said a clash with the Winter Olympics, held in January, would be undesirable.

The Manchester City midfielder, who was handed a three-match ban for his behaviour during Euro 2012 in Poland and...

Former Portuguese international Luis Figo explained he feels it is time to give back to the world of football as he's recently decided to run for president of FIFA.

LONDON -- Luis Figo says he would consider expanding the World Cup if he is elected FIFA president in May.

He has also pledged to restore FIFA's reputation by rebuilding the governing body's credibility.

"In the recent months and even years, I have seen the image of FIFA deteriorate," Figo said. "I speak to many people in football -- players, managers and association presidents - and they have told me something has to be changed.

"I agree with them and this is why I want to become FIFA president....
