Frank de Boer, Inter need pragmatism to compete for Champions League

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti discusses the influence of dutch football in Italy and whether Frank de Boer can work his magic at Inter.

Inter Milan's defeat against Chievo on Sunday had all the makings of a summer friendly. Having had only one exhibition game against Celtic -- the Borussia Monchengladbach tie was called off -- to prepare, manager Frank de Boer lined his men up in a 3-5-2 formation, only to be rewarded with a limp, lifeless performance, not to mention an embarrassing 2-0 defeat.

Everything seems to be going wrong at once for the Nerazzurri: the defence was a disaster, the midfield far from a cohesive unit and Mauro...

West Ham 'quite close' to deal for Juventus' Simone Zaza deal - Bilic

The ESPN FC crew analyse West Ham's failure to reach the Europa League group stage, falling to a 2-1 aggregate defeat against Astra Giurgiu.
Simone Zaza was one of several Juventus players who made the most of a rare start in the Coppa win vs. Torino.
Signing Simone Zaza is a deal Slaven Bilic would love to have happen.

Simone Zaza will arrive too late to salvage West Ham's European dream after they were dumped out by Astra Giurgiu.

It meant a 2-1 aggregate defeat and no...

Take an in-depth look at the UCL draw and see how each of the teams will line up in this year's competition.
ESPN FC's Steve Nicol presents a few of the Champions League groups to look out for in this year's competition.

Juventus' general manager Beppe Marotta says the Serie A club are "obliged" to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League after the 2015 finalists were drawn in a group with Sevilla, Olympique Lyon and Dinamo Zagreb.

The Bianconeri got the better of the Spaniards a year ago, finishing second in their group behind Manchester City and condemning Sevilla to a place in the Europa League, which they went on to win for a third straight season.

Without the presence of City this time around, Juve...

Alessio Romagnoli to stay at AC Milan as club reject new Chelsea bid

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti assesses the importance of Carlos Bacca for AC Milan and whether he can carry the team.

AC Milan have rejected an improved bid from Chelsea for their Italian central defender Alessio Romagnoli and declared the 21-year-old not for sale.

The Italy under-21 international, who joined the Rossoneri from Roma a year ago for €25 million, was subject to an initial enquiry from the Blues last week. The Premier League club's first bid, understood to have been in the region of €30m, was immediately rejected by Milan.

An improved bid, reportedly worth €35m, has also been turned...
