Juventus and Italy legend Gianluigi Buffon: Crying makes me 'feel human'

ESPN FC's Paul Mariner takes a look at the latest transfer rumours surrounding the likes of Jack Wilshere, Emre Can, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and more.

Gianluigi Buffon has no issue being in touch with his softer side and has admitted that crying makes him "feel human."

The 40-year-old Juventus and Italy legend famously shed tears after the Azzurri were eliminated by Sweden in World Cup qualifying late last year.

A World Cup winner and eight-time Serie A champion, the former Parma goalkeeper has been no stranger to big disappointment either. And he spoke about his emotions recently.

Buffon tears
Gianluigi Buffon is no stranger to tears.

"I cry often and I cry alone. Crying helps -- it frees you and makes you feel human," Buffon said during the filming of a documentary called "First Team: Juventus."

"I never cry for football. I can be touched but it's not about the defeat itself.

"It's something more complex and romantic."
