Manchester City recall Aro Muric from loan after Claudio Bravo injury

Manchester City have recalled goalkeeper Aro Muric from a season-long loan at NAC Breda following the serious injury to Claudio Bravo, the Dutch club announced on Wednesday.

City's back-up keeper Bravo is facing a lengthy spell out after he ruptured the Achilles tendon on his left foot in training on Monday

The Chilean is set to fly to Barcelona for further tests but the fear is he could be ruled out for up to six months with the injury.

That leaves City with just Brazilian international Ederson as their first choice with 20-year-old Daniel Grimshaw, who has yet to play any minutes for the first team as his backup.

With the transfer window in England closed, City have decided to bring back Montenegrin under-21 international Muric from a season-long loan to NAC Breda, where he kept a clean sheet in his first-team debut on Saturday.

"Due to the injury of the second goalkeeper, Manchester City came into a situation that we had not anticipated beforehand," NAC Breda technical director Hans Smulders said. "Despite looking at other solutions, we eventually had to decide to return Aro to Manchester. Having a partnership also means that you try to help each other in these situations."

Although he is also inexperienced, the 19-year-old Muric is highly rated by club officials and spent last season as the third choice.

Muric will be available to train ahead of this weekend's game at Wolves, City said.

City sold former England goalkeeper Joe Hart to Burnley and ex-England under-21 keeper Angus Gunn to Southampton in the summer.
