Kevin Strootman back for Netherlands, Timothy Fosu-Mensah out
Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has returned to the Netherlands squad for their upcoming friendly matches, but Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah misses out due to injury.
Netherlands take on Republic of Ireland on May 27, Poland on June 1 and Austria on June 4.
Strootman, 26, was a regular member of the side during qualification for the 2014 World Cup but has not appeared for the Oranje for over two years as the result of a succession of injuries.
He recently made his first appearance for Roma in nearly 16 months and coach Danny Blind has now added him to the squad.
Netherlands, who failed to qualify for Euro 2016, had included Fosu-Mensah in the provisional selection they named earlier this month, but the United man did not make the final 26-man squad due to groin and pelvis problems.
Blind has also cut Newcastle United's Vurnon Anita, Southampton's Jordy Clasie, Stoke City's Erik Pieters, Marseille's Karim Rekik, Feyenoord's Rick Karsdorp and Utrecht's Timo Letschert from the provisional squad.
Netherlands under-21 midfielders Tonny Vilhena, of Feyenoord, and Bart Ramselaar, of Utrecht, could make their first senior appearances after retaining their places from the original selection, while Galatasaray's Wesley Sneijder has been added.
However, Sneijder will miss the Ireland game as he is due to participate in the Turkish Cup final against Fenerbahce.
Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben, who has been sidelined since early March, was not included.
