New England Revolution revamp back line with two center-back signings

Benjamin Angoua has joined up with New England on an initial loan.

The New England Revolution signed Benjamin Angoua on loan from Ligue 1 club Guingamp on Friday, the MLS team's second center-back acquisition in three days.

The Revs added Angoua on loan until the end of the season, when they will have the option to buy him permanently.

On Wednesday, New England signed Slovenia international Antonio Mlinar Delamea as they look to refurbish a backline that conceded 54 goals last season, the sixth most in the league.

"With Benjamin's experience, adding him to the Revolution was an important step for our club this offseason," Revolution general manager Michael Burns said in a statement.

"We began this offseason with the goal of bringing in veteran players who are ready to contribute right away, so we are very pleased to have Benjamin with us as we head to preseason training in Arizona."

Angoua, 30, is an Ivory Coast international and has played in France since 2010, when he signed for Valenciennes.

Mlinar Delamea, 25, signed from Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia, where he has played his entire career.

The two additions join London Woodberry and Je-Vaughn Watson as center-backs with the Revs.
