Kano Pillars, who are without red-hot Junior Lokosa for the first time this campaign, are away in Lafia against Nasarawa United.

Sai Masu Gida have failed to win away this season in 10 previous attempts, but could they get it right in the absence of their top scorer and complete a double over relegation-threatened...

Niger Tornadoes defender dies in traffic accident

Niger Tornadoes defender Hussaini Isah passed away in Minna, Niger State, on Monday evening after reportedly being struck by a motorcycle, the Nigeria Premier Football League club has confirmed.

The player was in action for the Ikon Allah Boys on Sunday evening against Kwara United, and was selected as the Man of the Match. He was hit by a motorcycle rider along Maitumbi road in Minna 24 hours later, the club said.

In a brief statement released by Niger Tornadoes on Monday night, the club announced:...

Lobi Stars pull further clear at the top

Lobi Stars moved five points clear at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League table on Sunday thanks to a 1-0 home win against Sunshine Stars.

The game in Makurdi was decided by Kehinde Abayomi's 73rd-minute own goal, a result which piles further pressure on Sunshine, who are struggling in the relegation zone.

Nyima Nwagua salvaged an away point for Kano Pillars at Heartland in a 1-1 draw in Owerri on Sunday. The bottom club stunned their more illustrious opponents in the 28th minute...

Three NPFL Talking Points

Death, taxes and Junior Lokosa breaking a mini-drought. Kano Pillars' near unstoppable hitman found himself caged last weekend, but returned with a vengeance this week.

In Aba, Fatau Dauda was restored to the Enyimba line-up and 'rewarded' his coach by getting sent off for violent conduct.

Those two and other juicy bits from last weekend in the Nigeria Professional Football League ...
