North Carolina FC is taking a unique approach in its bid to distinguish itself from other MLS expansion candidates.

The Cary-based organization, which currently plays in the North American Soccer League, announced that it has joined forces with two area youth clubs, Capitol Area Soccer League (CASL) and the Triangle Futbol Club Alliance (TFCA).

Amauri to stay in NASL for second season with New York Cosmos

Amauri will continue to play in the United States with the New York Cosmos.

Former Serie A striker Amauri has changed NASL teams, leaving the Fort Lauderdale Strikers for the New York Cosmos.

Amauri, 36, scored five goals in 13 games for the Strikers last season but now moves to the second-tier league's champions.

"The New York Cosmos is one of the most storied soccer clubs in the world, as well as the defending NASL Champions," Amauri told the Cosmo's website.

"I look forward to helping the team win yet another championship."
