Argentina's 2008 Olympic gold-winning heroes: Where are they now?

Argentina's last title was won a full decade ago, when they claimed gold in the Olympic men's football final on Aug. 23, 2008.

A group featuring several future superstars beat Nigeria 1-0 in Beijing to seal first place and was expected to go on and add more international trophies.

ESPN FC takes a look at coach Sergio Batista's squad and sees what has happened to each player in the years since.

Hebei CFFC's Ezequiel Lavezzi 'deeply' apologises for offensive gesture

Ezequiel Lavezzi (right) signed for Hebei CFFC from Paris Saint-Germain in 2016.

Ezequiel Lavezzi and his Chinese Super League club Hebei CFFC have made public apologies after the Argentina international was photographed making a racist gesture by apparently making his eyes look more Chinese.

The photograph, which was taken ahead of the current league season during the team's training camp in Spain in February, was heavily criticised after it appeared online at the end of last week, and both the club and the player moved to diffuse the situation on Sunday evening.

Hebei China Fortune now have pieces to contend for AFC Champions League

Ahead of his first full season in China, Manuel Pellegrini is building a real contender at Hebei China Fortune.

The coverage of Juventus midfielder Hernanes's arrival at Hebei China Fortune this week has felt somewhat low key compared to some of the CSL's transfer activity in recent months. Yet, the 31-year-old Brazil international's capture completes what has been a remarkably successful window for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

Hebei finished a disappointing seventh in 2016, crumbling in the second half of a campaign which saw Li Tie handed his notice and former Manchester City coach Pellegrini arrive in Qinhuangdao....

Ezequiel Lavezzi transfer 'is not a subject of discussion' for Nice - Rivere

Nice have denied Ezequiel Lavezzi is their latest transfer target after swooping for Mario Balotelli last summer.

The Ligue 1 leaders sprung one of the surprises of the summer transfer window when they secured the services of Balotelli on a one-year deal.

Lavezzi, who joined Hebei China Fortune from Paris Saint-Germain last February, has been linked to the unlikely Ligue 1 leaders as they reportedly seek to strengthen their position.

Lionel Messi and Argentina's media boycott is a recurring theme

A good performance and, above all, a superb reaction to the disappointing loss against Brazil, brought a 3-0 victory for Argentina against Colombia on Tuesday night.

However, almost as soon as the game was over, the sports pages were dominated by the Argentina squad's decision that all 26 players would attend the news conference, while Lionel Messi, as captain, told the assembled press the players wouldn't be talking to them until further notice following claims made against striker Ezequiel...

Lionel Messi leads Argentina boycott of press after Lavezzi accusations

Lionel Messi led the Argentina national team into the postmatch news conference after a decisive 3-0 win against Colombia and declared that the team will no longer speak to the media after accusations were made regarding teammate Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Lavezzi, 31, did not make the squad in their 3-0 win over Colombia, and reporter Gabriel Anello suggested on Twitter that he may have been dropped because he was found to be smoking cannabis at the team's training camp ahead of the match.

"Lavezzi is...
