Pickford, Stones, Trippier and Maguire struggle after England World Cup heroics

Manchester City's 2-0 victory over Manchester United may prove to be the decisive moment in the title race, as Pep Guardiola's side overcame their final serious test.

They did it, however, without John Stones. For a game against a counter-attacking United side boasting little else other than speed upfront, Guardiola chose to field the somewhat immobile Vincent Kompany alongside Aymeric Laporte. On the bench, meanwhile, was Nicolas Otamendi. Stones didn't even make the 18-man squad, with no suggestion...

Manchester United to take 'strongest possible action' after Young receives racist abuse

Manchester United have said they will take "the strongest possible action" against any supporter found to have sent Ashley Young racist abuse on social media following the Champions League defeat to Barcelona.

Young was subjected to a torrent of abusive messages on Twitter during and after the 3-0 defeat at Camp Nou on Tuesday night.

Sources have told ESPN FC that the messages have been reported to Greater Manchester Police and to Twitter while the club will to do everything they can to weed out...

Manchester United's Ashley Young on pitch invasions, fan violence: Football needs to act

Ashley Young has called on football chiefs to do more to protect players after a pitch invader confronted Manchester United teammate Chris Smalling during the defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.

Police have confirmed a man has been arrested on suspicion of common assault and pitch invasion after the incident which occurred during the celebrations following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's penalty to make it 2-0.

It came just hours after a man was charged with assaulting Aston Villa's...

Manchester United will find 'another gear' against Liverpool - Ashley Young

Ashley Young has warned Liverpool that Manchester United have "another gear" ahead of their Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

United warmed up with a 2-0 win over Chelsea in the FA Cup on Monday to make it 11 wins from 13 games under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and after a hugely impressive performance at Stamford Bridge, Young said they are ready to step it up against Jurgen Klopp's title challengers.

"I think we had another gear to go," Young said. "It was very good to get the...

Manchester United's Martial: It's easier to play for Solskjaer than Mourinho

Manchester United eased past a woeful Fulham side to move up to 4th in the Premier League.

Anthony Martial has said it is "easier" to play under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer than Jose Mourinho, adding that Manchester United could have an advantage ahead of the Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain because of high-profile absentees for the French champions.

Martial has been key to United's attacking approach under caretaker manager Solskjaer, who has started his reign at Old Trafford with 10 wins from 11 games.

The France international said he has been told to "attack more" and warned...

Manchester United under Jose Mourinho were 'laughing stock' - Phil Jones

Manchester United eased past a woeful Fulham side to move up to 4th in the Premier League.

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has said the club were a "laughing stock" under Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho was sacked on Dec. 18 with United 11 points adrift of the Champions League places. However, eight wins from nine under replacement Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seen the club climb up to fourth place for the first time since the opening day of the season.

And Jones, who signed a contract extension this week, said there had been a complete turnaround in recent weeks.

"Everyone's got...
