Sevilla complete signing of Brazilian Ganso from Sao Paulo

Sevilla have completed the signing of Brazilian playmaker Paulo Henrique Ganso from Sao Paulo.

The 26-year-old Ganso moves to the reigning Europa League champions for a reported fee of €9.5 million after passing a medical on Thursday.

The former Santos midfielder has spent his entire career in Brazil. Speaking at his introductory news conference, he told reporters he was eager to continue his career in Europe.

"I want to adapt myself as quickly as possible. Brazilian football is a little less intense [than European]," Ganso said.

"I know I have to work hard. I come to Sevilla with a will to win titles.

"At 26 years of age I see myself as prepared to make the jump and do it well."

Ganso has primarily played as a classic No. 10 in Brazil. But newly-appointed Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli has other plans for him at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Sampaoli, who coached Chile to the 2015 Copa America title would like the elegant left-footer to play deeper in midfield and perform a role similar to that of Andrea Pirlo and Chile international Marcelo Diaz.

"I spoke a little bit with Sampaoli. He wants me to play a little further back on the pitch, although I must adapt to any decision he makes," Ganso said.
