Viera gets the point for Las Palmas as Valencia are left frustrated
Valencia were held to a 1-1 draw at home to struggling Las Palmas in the Primera Division.
The hosts could have climbed into the top four with victory and they led through Paco Alcacer's early goal but Las Palmas, who could have won if they had taken their chances, equalised just before the hour mark through Jonathan Viera.
Valencia went in front after eight minutes when Andre Gomes' driven cross from the left side of the box was converted by Alcacer, who had the simple task of tapping in from close range.
Las Palmas nearly hit back immediately as Jaume Domenech was forced into a fine save to deny Sergio Araujo.
The Valencia goalkeeper then denied Momo and Dominguez Tanausu, before he set up the equalising goal after 57 minutes.
Tanausu drilled a pass into the feet of Viera who controlled the ball brilliantly before slotting his shot beyond Domenech.
Tanasu then came close to putting his side ahead but his header came back off the crossbar.
The visitors looked most likely to snatch a winning goal but neither side did and it ended all square.
