Alan Pardew hopes for more signings

Pardew is already having  busy summer in the transfer market.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew hopes a fifth summer signing will arrive on Tyneside within the next 24 hours.

- Duffy: Pressure is on Pardew to deliver

Netherlands full-back Daryl Janmaat's agent has claimed the 24-year-old is due in the north-east on Tuesday after progress was made in talks between the Magpies and Feyenoord.

Sources on Tyneside were giving little away, but there appears to be growing optimism that Janmaat could become the latest new recruit.

Should Newcastle complete that deal, it would open the way for Mathieu Debuchy's move to Arsenal -- with the Gunners confident they have got their man.

A successful swoop for Janmaat, who has just returned from the World Cup in Brazil, would represent another breakthrough for Pardew, who added France midfielder Remy Cabella to his squad on Sunday.

Press Association Sport understands the Magpies agreed a deal for the former Montpellier man for a little more than seven million pounds, paid up front with no add-ons.

As well as Cabella, Siem de Jong, Jack Colback and Ayoze Perez have arrived at St James' Park over the summer -- and if Janmaat is added to that list, he seems unlikely to be the last signing.

Pardew has yet to address the glaring lack of bodies in the striking department with Loic Remy and Luuk de Jong having left after loan spells and Shola Ameobi departing as a free agent.

Newcastle have been linked with a permanent move for Remy and fellow Toon old boy Demba Ba -- rumoured to be surplus to requirements at Chelsea -- with their futures as yet unresolved. Remy has been linked with Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Cabella -- who interrupted his holiday to sign for the Magpies -- said he wanted to follow in the footsteps of compatriots such as David Ginola and Laurent Robert at St James' Park.

Cabella told Newcastle's official website: "Yes, that's something I am here for. I am looking to improve all the time and hopefully become one of the best. I just love improving.

"I love to play. Big matches or little matches, I am always there. It makes me want to play more, and I am looking forward to just getting involved in the season.

"My first match at Newcastle is something I have been really looking forward to."
