Reds withdraw from Loic Remy deal

FC's Steve Nicol reviews the recent run of bad luck for Liverpool in the transfer arena, including losing out on Loic Remy through a failed physical and Adam Lallana's injury.

Liverpool have pulled out of an 8.5 million pound deal to sign Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy.

The France striker's signing was expected to be confirmed after he had a medical in the United States, where the Reds are on a preseason tour, but sources have told ESPN FC that the deal has collapsed.

Liverpool have made no comment as to why they have abandoned the deal, although Sky Sports News has reported that there is a problem related to his medical.

The club agreed to sign the QPR forward on July 19 after meeting a release clause in his contract.

Remy, who scored 14 goals in 26 Premier League appearances while on loan at Newcastle last season, flew to Boston to link up with the first leg of Liverpool's summer tour.

Personal terms had been agreed with the striker, and he had medical tests before heading to New York for a short break, but the deal will not now go ahead, with Remy set to return to QPR.

The 27-year-old made two substitute appearances for France at the recent World Cup, in the 0-0 Group E draw against Ecuador and the 0-1 quarter-final defeat against Germany.
