Brede Hangeland joins Crystal Palace

Hangeland was a long-serving Fulham defender.

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of ex-Fulham skipper Brede Hangeland on a one-year deal.

- Daly: Hangeland an improvement at Palace

Hangeland, 33, left Fulham after six-and-a-half years at Craven Cottage when the club decided not to offer him a new deal following their relegation last season.

The Norway international had played more than 200 games for the west Londoners, but claimed he was informed of his release by email.

He joins a Palace side that made a dramatic improvement in form after Tony Pulis had taken over as manager in November and ended up surviving comfortably in the Premier League.

Hangeland told the official Palace website: "I'm absolutely delighted. All the things I've heard about this club -- the manager, the players, the staff -- it's all been good things.

"I'm delighted to be here. I look forward to helping out and doing the best I can for this club. I'm quite old school as a player. I just want to be part of a good group of players, working for a good manager.

"All the people I spoke to told me that's what is going on at Crystal Palace, and I really wanted to be a part of that."
