Galloway joins Everton from MK Dons

Ross Barkley has signed a four-year contract extension with Everton which will keep him at the club until 2018. Barkley made 34 Premier League appearances and scored six goals for The Toffees last season.

Everton have confirmed the signing of teenage defender Brendan Galloway from League One side MK Dons.

Galloway, 18, joins for an undisclosed fee and has signed a five-year contract, with Everton revealing he will join up with their under-21 squad for the coming season.

Zimbabwe-born Galloway graduated from the youth set-up at MK Dons, becoming their youngest ever first-team player when he made his debut as a substitute, aged 15 years and 240 days, in a 6-0 FA Cup first-round win over Nantwich Town in November 2011.

The England under-19 international made 17 appearances for MK Dons in total, scoring once.

He told Everton's official website: "It means an awful lot to me coming to such a great club. "I'm now looking forward to learning off some of the more senior players -- such as Sylvain Distin and Phil Jagielka.

"I've been watching them for years now and they're great professionals, great players -- players who have been there and done it. That's a big thing for me to be able to learn off guys like that.

"Short-term, I just want to work hard to better myself as a footballer here, which I know I will with the coaches and other staff here. Long-term, I also want to get in the Everton team and play week in and week out in the Premier League and play in a team that's doing well, which I know we will do."

Galloway is Everton's third signing in six days, following the arrival of Bosnia midfielder Muhamed Besic from Hungarian club Ferencvaros of four million pounds on Monday, and Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku for a club-record fee of 28 million pounds from Chelsea on Wednesday.
