Gregory van der Wiel joins Fenerbahce, Roman Neustadter set to follow

Gregory van der Wiel had a difficult season at Paris Saint-Germain.

Netherlands full-back Gregory van der Wiel has completed his move to Fenerbahce from Paris Saint-Germain.

Van der Wiel, who has signed a four-year contract, is set to be joined in the Turkish side's defence by Russia's Roman Neustadter after the Turkish club revealed the Schalke centre-back is flying in for talks.

Van der Wiel left French champions PSG at the end of the season after a fractious campaign in which he clashed with striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and criticised coach Laurent Blanc. All three have now left the club.

Van der Wiel said on the club's official website: "I already now want to thank all Fenerbahce fans. I look forward to take the field under the Fenerbahce jersey and continue as a successful season."

Fenerbahce also posted a message of thanks to the club's former striker Dirk Kuyt for his assistance in persuading his fellow Dutchman to join the club.

Neustadter, meanwhile, featured for Russia in their dismal Euro 2016 campaign, which saw them eliminated after finishing bottom of Group B with one point.

A further statement on the Fenerbahce website read: "Negotiations have begun for the transfer of Roman Petrovich Neustadter. The Russian player will arrive in Istanbul on Tuesday evening, July 5, and future negotiations will be completed."
