Sevilla close to signing forward Franco Vazquez - Palermo director Rino Foschi

Palermo's Franco Vazquez is leaving the Rosanero "no matter what" this summer, with Sevilla close to completing a deal for the forward -- according to the Sicilian club's sporting director Rino Foschi.

Talks between Palermo and Sevilla commenced at the weekend, and the Italian club are understood to have accepted an inferior bid than their initial €25 million valuation due to the player stating his desire to leave.

And Foschi is hopeful that the two clubs will reach a satisfactory conclusion on the deal to enable him to switch focus to buying players, having already seen another forward -- Alberto Gilardino -- leave the Rosanero this summer.

"Vazquez is going no matter what," Foschi told reporters. "We're almost at the finish line with Sevilla because we just need to work out his bonuses.

Franco Vazquez is keen to leave Palermo and is reportedly close to completing a move to Sevilla.

"Their sporting director, from what I understand, wants both Vazquez and [Sampdoria's Joaquin] Correa.

"I hope the operation will go through as soon as possible."

Sevilla have earmarked Vazquez as the man they want to replace Ever Banega, who joined Inter Milan last week, and the player is keen on the move.

"I know they've been talking, they're a big club and it would be very nice [to join them], but these are just rumours," Vazquez told Argentina's Ole. "Until anything is signed, I can't say anything."

Vazquez joined Palermo from Belgrano in 2012 and has made over 100 appearances for the Serie A club, scoring 18 league goals. He found the back of the net eight times last season as Palermo only narrowly avoided relegation to Serie B.
