Brighton sign defender Ezequiel Schelotto from Sporting Lisbon

Ezequiel Schelotto
Ezequiel Schelotto signed a three-year deal with Brighton.

Brighton have completed the signing of defender Ezequiel Schelotto from Sporting Lisbon for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old former Inter Milan right-back has agreed a three-year deal with the Seagulls.

Manager Chris Hughton said: "We are delighted that Ezequiel is joining us.

"He has made nearly 190 appearances in the top flight in Italy and Portugal and has played in the Champions League, and is the type of experienced player we want to add to the squad.

"He can also play as a more attacking wing-back and so gives us some good options in defence.''

Although born in Argentina, Schelotto holds Italian citizenship and will not require a work permit to play in the Premier League.

He has one senior cap for Italy which came in a 2-1 defeat by England in Berne in 2012.
