Liverpool's Mohamed Salah sent Alisson text messages urging him to join club

New Liverpool signing Alisson says Mohamed Salah played a part in his world-record £56 million transfer to Anfield

Alisson, who becomes the most expensive goalkeeper in football history, will be reunited with former Roma teammate Salah, and revealed the Egypt international urged him to join.

"Yesterday, [Salah] sent me a message to say 'Hey, what are you waiting for?'" he said. "As the negotiations were at an advanced stage, I replied to him straight away saying 'Calm down, I'm on my way!'

"I'm really happy to have the opportunity to play alongside him again."

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hailed his new signing as "world-class."

""I saw him today for the first time live and in colour at Melwood," he said to Sky Sports News. "We've had talks over the last few days and that's good. We didn't sign him because he is good looking and a nice fella and his English is good and all that stuff -- we signed him obviously because he is a world-class goalkeeper.

"We are really happy that the club gave us the opportunity to do so."

With the arrival of Alisson, the futures of Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet at Liverpool appear under threat, but Klopp gave nothing away about whether they will leave.

"Nothing in the moment," he said. "Liverpool FC needs just the highest quality goalkeepers and that's what we have at the moment, we'll see now what we do in the next few weeks.

"Loris played outstanding [against Blackburn] tonight. Since we started the preseason -- people have obviously never been in a difficult situation so they think it's funny to make some noise at the moment when he touches the ball or catches the ball and stuff like that, but that's how it is.

"But no, at the moment we have three outstanding goalkeepers and two very young and very talented goalkeepers but we need that, so I'm happy about that."
