Torino sign Simone Zaza on loan deal from Valencia

Torino FC have signed striker Simone Zaza from Valencia on a one-year loan with the obligation to make it permanent.

The move is worth €14 million in total.

The Italy international looked close to signing with Sampdoria earlier Friday, but Torino overtook the Genoa club on deadline day to secure the striker until 2023.

Of the deal, the 27-year-old Zaza told the club's website: "I'm very happy and wish to thank president [Urbano] Cairo and Torino because they have allowed me to fulfil my dream of returning to Italy.

"It's what I wanted, and it's become true. Now my priority is joining my new teammates and starting training immediately so that I can give my contribution to the team."

President Cairo added: "Simone Zaza is one of the most talented Italian strikers of this generation and a very generous footballer with a great temperament.

"His purchase further strengthens an attack which was already of the highest quality; he carries with him, apart from his technical and physical ability, the enthusiasm and characteristic of someone who has chosen and wanted Torino as a way of returning to Italy as a protagonist.

"He will be welcomed by a dressing room which will make him feel an integral part of the team right from the start."

Previously, Zaza had spells with Sassuolo and Juventus before being loaned to West Ham United and then joining Valencia from the Bianconeri a year ago.
