Ex-Afghanistan chief Mohammad Hanif Sediqi Rustam banned for violations regarding abuse of women

Former Afghan football official Mohammad Hanif Sediqi Rustam has been banned from the sport for five years and fined 10,000 Swiss francs after being found guilty by FIFA's ethics committee of violations relating to the abuse of female players.

Sediqi is the third official to be sanctioned in the case which saw former Afghanistan Football Federation president Keramuudin Karim banned for life in June following complaints lodged by several female Afghan players.

FIFA said its ethics committee had established...

3/10 Chhetri sums up uninspired India

India's hopes of World Cup qualification are all but over after yet another disappointing display that saw them lose to Oman 1-0 in Muscat on Tuesday. Oman dominated the first half and failed to convert a penalty early on before taking the lead in the 33rd minute. With three draws and two losses from five games so far, India are currently fourth in the group with just three points.

Player ratings: Oman 1-0 India

Positives

India's display improved in the second half and...

Afghanistan draw a warning for Igor Stimac to back up style with substance

It's the fourth minute of India's crucial World Cup qualifier against Afghanistan. India have hogged the ball since kick-off and have been passing it slickly amongst themselves, one-touch at times, yet patient, probing. Suddenly, Brandon Fernandes senses an opening. With Ashique Kuruniyan, Sahal Abdul Samad, and Sunil Chhetri drifting toward him (left, left-centre), Fernandes switches play to the opposite flank with a delicious crossfield. Pritam Kotal traps it before marauding forward, plays a...

Sunil Chhetri 3/10 as wasteful India salvage draw against Afghanistan

Player ratings: Afghanistan 1 - 1 India

Positives

India still remain a threat from set-pieces.

Negatives

It took until the 93rd minute for India to put a decent set-piece into the Afghanistan box.

Defensively all over the place in the first half, and for some reason seemed unwilling to get numbers into the box during moments of attacking promise in that same period.

Manager rating out of 10 -- 5 Igor Stimac's gameplan was pretty evident from the off, take the game to the hosts, exert...
