When the Confederation of African Football ratified an expansion to the Africa Cup of Nations in July 2017, introducing eight more teams to the biennial competition, the dynamic of the qualifying program was always going to change.

Nigeria and Benin meet on Thursday evening at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the second semi final of the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations, a rematch of the recent 2018 African Nations Championship qualifier between the two.

FIFA threatens Benin with 2019 African Nations Cup exclusion - report

Didier Olle-Nicolle lasted just seven months as Benin boss.

FIFA has warned that Benin are facing exclusion from qualifying for the 2019 African Nations Cup unless they pay money owed to sacked former coach Didier Olle-Nicolle, L'Equipe has reported.

Olle-Nicolle, currently coach of French second-division side Orleans, signed a two-year contract to be Benin boss in March 2014 but was sacked just seven months later following a run of poor results.

Benin could face suspension after arrest warrants issued for FIFA chief

PORTO-NOVO, Benin -- FIFA has threatened Benin with another suspension from international soccer after a judge in the West African nation issued arrest warrants for a senior FIFA official and the head of Ivory Coast's federation.

The warrants demand that FIFA council member Constant Omari and Ivory Coast Football Federation president Augustin Sidy Diallo be arrested immediately and taken to a jail in the capital Potro-Novo.
