Nigeria beat Chad in African Nations Cup qualifier

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi got off to a winning start with victory over Chad.

Nigeria won 2-0 against Chad in their Group G opener in qualification for the 2017 African Nations Cup.

The Albiceleste settled the match in a burst with three goals in five minutes in the first half. Di Maria opened the scoring in the 25th minute, Aguero added his first from the penalty...

The first two games of Burkina Faso's African Nations Cup was neatly summed up by a passage of play six minutes before half-time.

Alain Traore had already hit the post with an 18th-minute free-kick when, located on the left corner of the penalty area by a cross from the right, he attempted...

Burkina Faso were left clinging to their African Nations Cup future after a frustrating goalless draw with hosts Equatorial Guinea.

Knowing defeat would see them eliminated, the 2013 runners-up pressed forward throughout and hit the woodwork twice in the first half through Alain Traore.

But their end product was increasingly lacking as the match went on and they will need other results to go their way if they are to qualify.

Burkina Faso threatened first when Alain Traore's free-kick curled around...
