Chile's next generation forced to wait as Juan Antonio Pizzi plays it safe

Chile are taking no chances this summer, with plenty expected of stars like Vidal and Mauricio Pinilla.

There were a few tasks facing Juan Antonio Pizzi when he replaced Jorge Sampaoli as Chile national team head coach earlier this year. Primarily, he was to oversee the transition from the generation that has reached consecutive World Cups and provided the country with their first international trophy (last year's Copa América) to a new group of players capable of helping Chile through the 2018 World Cup and beyond.

CONMEBOL sides largely bringing top players to 2016 Copa America

Which country will take home the Copa America this summer? The top nations are bringing strong teams to compete.

The countdown is on, all the final 23-man squads are in and the news is good.

Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal and Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez were included in Chile's final 23-man squad for next month's Copa America Centenario in the United States from June 3-26.

The defending champions also included Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Charles Aranguiz, who was sidelined most of the Bundesliga season with a torn Achilles tendon.

Chile coach Juan Antonio Pizzi opted to leave last year's squad intact, including goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, defender Gary Medel as well as Marcelo...

FIFA gives life bans to two ex-CONMEBOL officials for bribery

During his visit to Seoul, South Korea FIFA president Gianni Infantino shared his new vision for FIFA.

ZURICH -- FIFA ethics judges have imposed life bans on two South American football officials who have pleaded guilty in the United States to corruption charges.

The FIFA ethics committee judging chamber says it found Luis Bedoya, a former FIFA executive committee member from Colombia, and Sergio Jadue of Chile guilty of wrongdoing including bribery and conflicts of interest.

Bedoya and Jadue were national federation presidents when they waived indictment last November on charges of racketeering and...
