Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez says his injured ankle is getting better, but it's still forcing him to stay in bed during his holiday.

The Chile striker posted more pictures on social media of his bruised and swollen ankle on Thursday, along with a close-up of the tackle that caused the damage during Sunday's Copa America final.

The Copa America Centenario is done and dusted, with Chile claiming their second major trophy in as many years, a 4-2 victory on penalties over Argentina. There were a number of stalwart performances from players throughout the tournament, yet only a select number made the ESPN FC Copa America Best XI.

Alexis Sanchez reveals swollen ankle after Chile's Copa America win

Chile coach Juan Antonio Pizzi says his side felt confident of winning yet another penalty shootout against Argentina to win the Copa America Centenario.

Chile's Copa America victory clearly took a toll on Alexis Sanchez's ankle.

The Arsenal forward posted pictures on social media on Monday showing a very swollen left ankle propped up on a pillow in bed. In one picture, he's also wearing an ankle brace.

Sanchez won the Golden Ball as the best player of the tournament after Chile beat Argentina on penalties in Sunday's final for the country's second straight Copa America title.
