Australia have continued their perfect start to World Cup qualifying with a 7-1 hammering of a spirited Chinese Taipei side in Kaohsiung.

Adam Taggart and Jackson Irvine and Harry Souttar each scored twice with Jamie Maclaren also finding the net with his fourth goal in a week for the national team.

Chinese Taipei's new head coach Gary White says his team can edge out Singapore and Turkmenistan to reach the 2019 Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The former Guam boss was appointed on a one-year contract this week, just after the halfway point of the third round of the Asian Cup qualifying campaign, and on the back of a 5-0 defeat in Bahrain.

This leaves Chinese Taipei in third spot in Group E, a point behind Turkmenistan and a point above the Lions, while Bahrain sit three points clear...

Singapore were brought back down to earth in their 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifying campaign after blowing a lead to suffer a shock 2-1 defeat to Chinese Taipei at Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday night.
