Juventus' Marko Pjaca tears anterior cruciate ligaments playing for Croatia

Gab Marcotti discusses how the links between Juventus President Andrea Agnelli and organised crime are impacting the club.

Juventus will be without forward Marko Pjaca for the rest of the season after the Croatia international tore his anterior cruciate ligaments while on international duty.

Pjaca, 21, was carried off on a stretcher after twisting his knee badly when he got his foot caught in the pitch during Croatia's 3-0 friendly defeat against Estonia.

Tests conducted by the Croatian Football Federation on Wednesday morning confirmed the injury.

Compatriot Ivan Perisic, who plays for Juve's rivals Inter Milan, said...

Spain defeat France with help of video replay while Italy beat Netherlands

Two of the biggest football countries were on display but it was Video Replay Technology that starred, disallowing one goal and overruling a linesman on another.

The video assistant referee twice played an important role as Spain beat France 2-0 in a friendly in Paris on Tuesday.

FIFA is testing VARs ahead of their possible use at the World Cup, and the system ruled out a goal that had been given for France, and later overruled a linesman to grant Spain a goal.

Antoine Griezmann thought he had put France ahead in the second half, but after the goal was originally given, the VAR called down to the match referee and disallowed the goal for offside...

Mourinho denies reports of scouting trip to Croatia: 'I have no hidden cause'

Stevie Nicol says Manchester United should throw the kitchen sink at Antoine Griezmann to lure him from Atletico Madrid.

Jose Mourinho did not attend Friday's match between Croatia and Ukraine in a scouting capacity, the Manchester United boss says. Instead, he was there to soak up the sunshine.

The United manager was in Zagreb for Croatia's 1-0 win in World Cup qualifying -- a result which saw them retain their place atop the Group I table.

His visit elicited suggestions he was on hand to meet with the representatives of Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic, who did not play due to suspension.

Was Jose Mourinho in Croatia in search of talent?

However Mourinho denied...

Spain and Italy both cruise to wins as Ireland hold Wales to goalless draw

Four players got in on the scoring for Spain as they routed a helpless Israel side in World Cup Qualifying.
Gianluigi Buffon acknowledges the crowd during his landmark game.
Gianluigi Buffon faced only one shot on target in his 1,000th game for club and country.

Gianluigi Buffon kept a clean sheet in his 1,000th professional appearance for club and country as Italy beat Albania 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier on Friday.

Buffon had little to do in his 168th cap for Italy, making only one save as the Italians controlled the action in Palermo.

The opening goal came in the 12th minute after Migjen Basha hauled down Andrea Belotti in the box during a set piece, and Daniele De Rossi converted the penalty.

Croatian Prime Minister urges supporters to behave against Ukraine

Croatia supporters have caused trouble in the past.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has appealed to fans to behave during Friday's World Cup qualifying match against Ukraine.

Friday's match will be the first time Croatia fans will be allowed into a home game this qualifying campaign after FIFA handed out a stadium ban for the Turkey and Iceland clashes last year as punishment for previous incidents of racism and disorder.

Plenkovic also urged all state institutions to make sure that the game at the Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb goes ahead without...
