Burnley defender James Tarkowski leaves England camp for surgery

Former England captain Alan Shearer believes Harry Kane won't feel pressure of the armband at the 2018 World Cup.

England defender James Tarkowski has returned to Burnley from a World Cup training camp to undergo a hernia operation, the Football Association has announced.

The 28-year-old, who earned his first England cap in March, was named on Gareth Southgate's five-man standby list and had been training with the national team.

But following assessment, it has been agreed that Tarkowski requires surgery and he will not play any part at the World Cup.

Kyle Walker hopes to be England's driving force at World Cup

Stewart Robson joins the FC panel to talk England's probable World Cup starting XI and to debate just how far this squad can go in Russia.
Former England captain Alan Shearer believes Harry Kane won't feel pressure of the armband at the 2018 World Cup.
Stewart Robson and Gab Marcotti believe Harry Kane might wish he could take his words back after saying England could win the World Cup.

Kyle Walker had to follow his parents on the motorway at the start of his senior football journey, but this summer he is aiming to be a driving force for England at the World Cup.

No outfield player accumulated as many minutes in qualifying as Walker did and just four of the 23 players Gareth Southgate is taking to Russia have won more caps than the defender's 34.

An international veteran in this Three Lions squad, Walker can still recall how green he was when he had his initial taste of first-team...

Tammy Abraham strikes late as England U21s beat China to open Toulon defence

Tammy Abraham spared England Under-21s' blushes as they beat China 2-1 in their opening group game of the Toulon Tournament.

The Young Lions are trying to win the competition in the south of France for a third successive year, but they were labouring towards a draw until Abraham swept home from close range in the final minute.

It was a disappointing first half for Aidy Boothroyd's men and they fell behind in the 20th minute when Dinghao Yan sent a looping header into the far corner.

The second half...

David Brooks commits to Wales: England call was a 'misunderstanding'

Stewart Robson and Gab Marcotti believe Harry Kane might wish he could take his words back after saying England could win the World Cup.

David Brooks insists his future is with Wales and that he will not be returning to the England set-up.

The highly-rated Sheffield United forward was named the best player when England won the Under-20 Toulon Tournament last summer. But Warrington-born Brooks -- whose mother Cathryn is from Llangollen -- switched to Wales a few months later and was capped against France and Panama in November, producing a man-of-the-match performance in the latter.

Brooks could still represent England as those games...

England's Fabian Delph could leave World Cup briefly for birth of child

Former England captain Alan Shearer believes Harry Kane won't feel pressure of the armband at the 2018 World Cup.
Stewart Robson and Gab Marcotti believe Harry Kane might wish he could take his words back after saying England could win the World Cup.
England captain Harry Kane says their target is to win the World Cup and believes they can use Liverpool's run to the Champions League final as motivation.

Fabian Delph considers himself both a team man and a family man but faces a clash between the two at the World Cup, with his third child due to arrive mid-tournament.

The Manchester City midfielder is delighted to be part of the England squad this summer but is facing a collision of responsibilities, with wife Natalie due to give birth on June 30.

That is two days after the Three Lions' final group game against Belgium and two days before a prospective last-16 fixture should they top Group G.

Delph...
