United States set to face France in friendly ahead of World Cup

Taylor Twellman says that watching the World Cup draw without USMNT involvement should be a wake-up call and motivation for U.S. Soccer.

The United States men's national team will play France in a friendly on June 9 in Lyon, the French Football Federation (FFF) announced via Twitter on Wednesday.

The U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) indicated that a contract with the FFF hasn't been signed but that the contractual details on the match, which will be France's last friendly before the 2018 World Cup, are in the process of being finalized.

NYCFC boss Patrick Vieira says he's 'not chasing' new job in Europe

NYCFC coach Patrick Vieira joins ESPN FC's Heineken Boot Room to discuss his current club and potential future jobs.
NYCFC's Patrick Vieira joins ESPN FC's Heineken boot room to discuss his decision to move into coaching.

Patrick Vieira insists he is "not chasing a job in Europe," with the highly rated New York City FC boss happy with at the MLS franchise.

Olivier Giroud must ponder Arsenal exit in January - France's Guy Stephan

Relive Olivier Giroud's stunning scorpion kick vs. Crystal Palace that won the 2017 Puskas award.
After Ronald Koeman revealed that Olivier Giroud nearly signed to Everton, the FC guys ponder how the striker would've fit.
First-half goals from Griezmann and Giroud downed Belarus and helped France seal World Cup qualification out of Group A.

Olivier Giroud will have to decide whether to leave Arsenal during the winter transfer window, France's assistant coach Guy Stephan has said.

Last summer's arrival of international teammate Alexandre Lacazette has seen Giroud limited to cameo roles with Arsenal in the Premier League so far this season with 12 top-flight appearances solely from the bench.

Giroud, 31, won his 69th senior cap for France in the 2-0 win over Wales last month, but was replaced late on by Lacazette, who then started the...

Didier Deschamps: World Cup draw 'could have been worse' for France

ESPN's Julien Laurens believes France will be very happy after drawing Australia, Peru and Denmark.

France coach Didier Deschamps acknowledged Les Bleus' World Cup group "could have been worse" after his heavily fancied side were pitted against Australia, Denmark and Peru.

France will kick off their bid against coachless Australia in Kazan on June 16 before facing Peru in Ekaterinburg and rounding off their Group C fixtures against Denmark in Moscow, playing all three games in 10 frenetic days.

With Spain, England, Croatia and Uruguay among the heavyweight opponents his side avoided, Deschamps...
