German Football Association (DFB) president Reinhard Grindel has backed the Bild newspaper over claims of Russian censorship ahead of this summer's Confederations Cup.

Bild, Germany's most popular paper, has said it will boycott this summer's Confederations Cup in Russia if journalists are not given freedom to report as they please.

Neuer, 31, suffered the injury immediately before Cristiano Ronaldo sealed his hat trick to put the holders 3-2 up in the Bernabeu.

DFB chief Grindel voted into UEFA Executive Committee, FIFA Council

German Football Association (DFB) president Reinhard Grindel said he wants to give Germany "a voice in world football again" after being voted into the UEFA Executive Committee and FIFA Council at the UEFA Congress in Helsinki on Wednesday.

Having been one of 11 candidates for eight vacant seats on UEFA's Executive Committee, Grindel received 44 of the 55 votes from national associations and will now serve four years in the new role.

BERLIN -- The World Cup winners' podium used at the 2006 tournament in Germany has been found abandoned at Berlin's Olympiapark, near the Olympiastadion where the final was played.

On July 9, 2006, following a turbulent final featuring a red card for France captain Zinedine Zidane in his last competitive match, Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro stood on the podium and received the trophy from Horst Kohler, then the German president.

Eleven years later, the podium is slowly falling apart in bushes in...
