Serie A teams cleared for group training ahead of make-or-break May 28 vote

Gab Marcotti explains why we should see a return to action in Serie A by the middle of June.

The Italian government will decide on May 28 if and when the Serie A season can resume, Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora said on Tuesday as he also announced that teams could start full group training immediately.

The Italian league has been suspended since March 9 and hopes to start in mid-June, but is still waiting for government approval.

Italy Olympic committee chief: 99% chance Serie A will resume June 13

Gab Marcotti says Serie A's intentions to restart on June 13 still depend on government approval.

The head of Italy's Olympic committee (CONI) believes there is a 99% chance that the government will allow Serie A to resume on June 13, he said on Thursday.

However, CONI president Giovanni Malago said he could not predict whether clubs would be able to complete the season while the players' union (AIC) said the government's policy on dealing with a positive coronavirus test risked another stoppage.
