Home United's potential AFC Cup opponents Lao Toyota have been thrown out of the 2018 tournament for alleged match manipulation.

The club from Laos were due to meet Cambodia's Boeung Ket Angkor in a playoff to decide who would progress to play Singapore's Home United, Myanmar's Shan United and a club from the Philippines in Group F after last week's draw in Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysia survive Laos scare to top Group A in SEA Games football

A brace from Jafri Firdaus Chew and a deflected effort from Adib Zainuddin helped Malaysia confirm top spot in Group A of the Southeast (SEA) Asian Games after a 3-1 triumph over Laos on Wednesday night.

The 2011 champions overcame a nervous first half when they allowed Laos to equalise by completing a perfect record of four wins in four matches.

They had earlier taken care of Brunei and Singapore with 2-1 victories before strolling past their toughest opponents Myanmar 3-1 on Monday.

Despite booking a semifinals berth at the Southeast (SEA) Asian Games with a perfect record, Malaysia will not take things lightly against Laos on Wednesday night as they bid to finish as Group A champions.

Singapore's hopes of advancing in the SEA Games took yet another hit with a 2-1 defeat to Malaysia.

Singapore retain a slim chance of making the semifinals of the 2017 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games after securing a 2-0 victory over Laos in their third Group A game at Selayang Stadium, near Kuala Lumpur, on Friday.
