Mexico were victorious over Ecuador in their international friendly, as Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez's first half goal proved the difference.
It was Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez's goal and Jose de Jesus Corona's penalty save that saw Mexico past Ecuador in an end-to-end thriller of an international friendly.

Javier Hernandez scored and Jose Corona stopped a penalty as Mexico defeated Ecuador 1-0 in a friendly in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Hernandez provided the only goal of the game in the 14th minute when he cut inside and curled in a shot from the top of the 18-yard box.

Corona made a number of key saves, but none was bigger than his penalty save on Miller Bolanos in the 73rd minute.

Diego Reyes clattered into Angel Mena in the box, but Bolanos could not convert as Corona dived to his right.

The hosts had the better chances but their profligacy was punished when Cavani sent Morocco goalkeeper Munir Mohand Mohamedi the wrong way after Diego Rolan was fouled in the area by Nabil Dirar in the 51st minute.

Uruguay played without Luis Suarez, who is set to feature in a charity football match at his former Liverpool club on Sunday. Suarez will also be...

Ivory Coast secured their second African Nations Cup triumph with a 9-8 penalty shootout victory over Ghana in Sunday's finale in Bata.

RABAT, Morocco -- Morocco has rejected sanctions by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for withdrawing from hosting the African Cup of Nations, calling them harmful to the sport and against the rules.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) pulled out two months before the tournament's start in January, citing health risks from fans traveling from Ebola-affected regions in West Africa. It asked CAF for a delay. CAF refused, rebuffed Morocco's stance on Ebola fears, and Equatorial Guinea...
