United Arab Emirates' minister of state for foreign affairs has commented on Qatar hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup in light of the diplomatic crisis between Doha and four Arab nations.

Anwar Gargash wrote on Twitter on Tuesday: "Qatar's hosting of World Cup 2022 should include a repudiation of policies supporting extremism and terrorism. Doha should review its record.

Xavi Hernandez open to taking charge of Qatar at 2022 World Cup

Xavi Hernandez has been playing in Qatar since joining Al Sadd in 2015.

Former Barcelona captain Xavi Hernandez has not ruled out the possibility of coaching hosts Qatar at the 2022 World Cup.

The ex-Spain international's contract with Qatari club Al Sadd, whom he joined in 2015 after ending his 24-year association with Barca, expires next summer.

The 37-year-old has been working as an assistant to compatriot Felix Sanchez since the latter was appointed interim Qatar coach in July.
