Premier League squad lists: Tottenham omit Benoit Assou-Ekotto

Tottenham have left Benoit Assou-Ekotto out of their 25-man Premier league squad, despite having two free spaces available.

Assou-Ekotto, 30, returned to White Hart Lane following a loan spell at Queens Park Rangers last season and was heavily expected to leave the club this summer.

However, a move failed to materialise and Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has decided not to include the Cameroon international left-back in his Premier League or Europa League rosters, effectively bringing an end to his eight-year spell at the club.

England international Danny Rose and summer signing Ben Davies will therefore share the responsibility of the left-back role at White Hart Lane, while Spanish attacking midfielder Cristian Ceballos and attacker Ryan Mason were also included on the 23-man list.

Assou-Ekotto has made 200 appearances for Tottenham following his transfer from Lens in the summer of 2006, scoring four goals.

Manchester United included 12 home grown players in their Premier League squad list -- more than any of last season's top four -- though the three promoted sides, Burnley (19), Queens Park Rangers (18) and Leicester City (17) registered the most.

Chelsea have registered the least number of home grown players with Gary Cahill, Cesc Fabregas and John Terry making up their three-man contingent.
