Napoli, Trabzonspor fined for fires at Europa League match

Napoli cruised to a routine victory over Trabzonspor and confirmed their last-16 place in the Europa League.
Napoli scored early and often to take a big advantage at Trabzonspor.

NYON, Switzerland -- UEFA has fined Napoli and Trabzonspor a total of €100,000 ($110,000) after fans caused fires in the stands during a Europa League match.

Small fires were started at Napoli's San Paolo Stadium by fans throwing lit fireworks during the Round of 32 match on Feb. 26.

UEFA says its disciplinary panel ordered Napoli to pay 60,000 euros ($66,000) and Trabzonspor €40,000 ($44,000).

Celtic and Inter Milan hit with fines by UEFA following Europa League clash

Fiorentina take Ukrainian leaders Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League quarterfinals, as Sevilla play against Russian club Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Celtic have been fined by UEFA following the behaviour of both their players and fans during last month's Europa League clash with Inter Milan.

The Scottish club have been ordered to pay €8,000 after collecting five or more cautions during the 1-0 defeat to Inter in the round-of-32 second leg at the San Siro on Feb. 26.

They were also hit with a further €5,000 punishment after travelling supporters set off flares during the game, which saw Celtic crash out after a 4-3 aggregate loss.

Barca charged for 'illicit banner' vs. Man City; Dynamo Kiev face sanctions

Barcelona fans landed the club in hot water for an inappropriate banner during Wednesday's thrilling vanquishing of City.

UEFA has charged Barcelona over fans showing an "illicit banner" at Camp Nou during a Champions League win against Manchester City.

UEFA announced the incident Friday but did not give details. Barcelona won 1-0 on Wednesday to advance from the round of 16 on a 3-1 aggregate score.

UEFA says its disciplinary panel will judge the case on May 21.

The two-month wait for a hearing suggests the incident is not serious.

UEFA typically fast tracks cases so it can apply sanctions at a team's next home match.
