FIFA plans to introduce anti-racism regulations ahead of 2018 World Cup

FIFA secretary general Fatma Samoura said the organisation is working closely with Russia to formulate tough anti-discrimination regulations for the 2018 World Cup after it emerged that it was disbanding its anti-racism task force.

FIFA wrote to members of the task force to say that it has "completely fulfilled its temporary mission" and "is hereby dissolved and no longer in operation."

Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane sign new Republic of Ireland contracts

Martin O'Neill became Republic of Ireland manager in 2013.

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill and assistant Roy Keane have signed new contracts until the end of the 2018 World Cup.

O'Neill, who led Ireland to the round of 16 at Euro 2016, confirmed the deal at a news conference to announce his squad for the World Cup qualifying games against Georgia and Moldova in October.

Ireland are drawn alongside Wales, Austria, Serbia, Georgia and Moldova in Group D and began their campaign with a 2-2 draw in Serbia.

Marco Verratti will be as influential for Italy as he is for PSG - Leonardo

PSG haven't lost in the league in September in seven years, with their last defeat coming against Monaco in 2009.

Leonardo brought Marco Verratti to Paris Saint-Germain as a relatively unknown talent and now believes the Italy international has developed into one of the world's best midfielders.

Verratti, 23, joined PSG in the summer of 2012, with his arrival in the French capital from Pescara overshadowed by the unveiling of Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the same day.

Since then, however, Verratti has made a real name for himself at the Parc des Princes, playing a central role in the club's four successive Ligue 1...

Sam Allardyce: England fans shouldn't be expecting 10-0 win vs. Malta

Sam Allardyce won his first England game earlier this month against Slovakia.

England manager Sam Allardyce believes the team will struggle to live up to supporters' expectations when they face Malta next month.

The Three Lions, who saw off Slovakia 1-0 earlier this month, next face Malta at home on Oct. 8 as they continue their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Scotland, who are also in Group F, defeated Malta 5-1 in their opening qualifier, but Allardyce has warned fans not to necessarily be expecting a walkover when England play them

Brazil's victories in 2018 World Cup qualifying this month have lifted them from ninth to fourth in the FIFA World Ranking, with Argentina keeping hold of their place at the top.
